Britney Spears is reportedly still in talks to join The X Factor.
It's unclear if she'll really end up doing it, but it's not as far-fetched as it first seemed. According to People, it looks like the gig is more than a remote possibility.
"There have been talks" with Spears and her team, a source says "Anything is possible." Reveals a second source: "I've heard they are in negotiations."
Should Spears, 30, fill one of the open judge seats on the reality
competition, she would likely slow the rampant speculation about who will join the cast.Janet Jackson and Avril Lavigne have been rumored as well. Last week, a new report suggested Spears wanted $20 million to take the gig and the show balked.
"Are we flattered that there could be interest? Yes," Simon Cowell told reporters on a conference call last month of Spears. But he wouldn't confirm anything.
"I've learned a big lesson: Keep your mouth shut."

Britney Spears has rejected a $10 million offer to judge the next season of The X Factor, and is angling for $20 million instead, The Wrap reports.
The $10 million offer was negged weeks ago, according to an individual in Spears' camp. She's looking for more money - or another option entirely.
The 30-year-old singer is instead thinking about an offer to become a resident performer at a Las Vegas hotel in the fall, a la Celine Dion. Hmm ...
What Fox has shelled out for The X Factor judges so far pales in comparison to what Spears is looking for. Paula Abdul was paid $2.5 million for the last season.
She was also fired, as were Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones.
The X Factor is already recording its audition phase, but won’t need the judges until the end of May, and the show is said to be desperately seeking a big name.
Fox won't comment. Spears won't comment. Simon Cowell's camp won't comment. Fox's upfronts are May 14, so look for ... something to happen by then.

A week after telling Billy Bush he's "fascinated" by Britney Spears and impressed by her "star power" and "resilience," reports are now surfacing that Cowell and The X Factor producers have offered the pop sensation $10 million to come on board as a season two judge.
The news comes soon after Janet Jackson turned down a rumored X Factor offer and a few weeks after Cowell shot down the notion that he made a $100 million offer to Beyonce.
No word yet from Spears or any reps regarding the possibility of her hiring, but should she accept this deal? Would Britney make a strong X Factor judge?

Britney Spears, Fernando Flores Settle Lawsuit
Britney Spears has settled a lawsuit filed by Fernando Flores, the one-time bodyguard who accused her of coming onto him, emotionally abusing him and so forth.
Flores, a bodyguard who worked for her for a very short time during her "dark" period, said Britney is a wild, sex-crazed maniac who flashed him and then some.
Sources close to Britney have always said the lawsuit is BS, that he worked for her for about 15 minutes, and that he's just trying to extort the star for money.
Nonetheless, Britney and her camp decided to end the lawsuit after going before a private mediator, rather than face a longer battle, and it's officially closed.
As for whether Britney paid Flores any money to drop the lawsuit, no one is talking and no one will, as the terms of the settlement are extremely confidential.
In addition to claiming he saw - and shot down - Britney Spears nude, Flores also said she was the worst parent in history to little Sean and Jayden Federline.
How he would deserve money from it is unclear, but he said she “deliberately, recklessly” fed her sons shellfish despite known allergies, hospitalizing them.
Flores also detailed how he witnessed Spears and her boyfriend - believed to be longtime beau (and current fiance) Jason Trawick - having “violent quarrels.”

She can't exactly carry a tune, and she's never been known for her quick wit or intelligence... but her songs are sure catchy.
And is there any doubt she's rake in the ratings?
According to Us Weekly, Britney Spears has reached out to Simon Cowell and The X Factor producers in order to campaign for spot on the season two judging table.
If Britney's name is really in the mix, it would be included with other famous ones such as Beyonce, Pink, Fergie, and perhaps the most likely candidate, Janet Jackson.

Britney Spears Fans Lobby For Modern Family Cameo
Britney Spears' fans are pushing a major Twitter campaign to get the star to appear on Modern Family after the singer mentioned her affinity for the ABC comedy.
The hashtag #GetBritneyOnModernFamily trended worldwide yesterday.
It started when Brit, who had a cameo on Glee and a guest role on How I Met Your Mother, wrote, "I know everybody's excited about the Super Bowl, but I personally can’t wait to see the next episode of Modern Family! Funniest show on TV."
Modern Family star Sofia Vergara retweeted her message. Spears' manager Adam Leber asked fans on the site for their input on a possible Spears cameo:
"BritneySpears on Modern Family? What do you guys think?”
Twitter users jumped on the bandwagon. "I bet if Britney was on Modern Family, she would give the show its highest ratings to date!" one tweet said.
Spears took a screen shot of the trending hash tag and posted it to Facebook. "You all are at it again - look what's trending!" the 30-year-old said.
Responding to fans, she said: "Ahhhh I would love to be on it!"

Justin Timberlake Finally Admits "Cry Me a River" is About Britney Spears
It took 10 years, but Justin Timberlake finally (mostly) confirmed something we all assumed - that his hit "Cry Me a River" is about then-girlfriend Britney Spears.
The 2002 song has long been rumored to detail the breakdown of the couple’s romance and the video even featured a girl bearing a striking similarity to Spears.
Timberlake has always denied the claims, but in an episode of E!'s True Hollywood Story, his friend Timbaland confirms Britney Spears was the inspiration.
Justin himself concurred (while still not mentioning his ex by name) that a heated phone conversation between the young lovers prompted "Cry Me a River."
In the special, which was about Timbaland, the producer says, “He went to a concert and saw Britney, and Britney talked about him in the show and he was pissed.”
Justin then explains, “I was on a phone call that was not the most enjoyable phone call. I walked into the studio and he (Timbaland) could tell I was visibly angry.”
The singer, who was apparently cheated on by Spears, poured out his feelings in the song from his debut solo album Justified, and the emotion showed in his lyrics.
Timbaland says, “I was like, ‘Man, don’t worry about it’ and he's like, ‘I can’t believe she did that to me’ and he was like, ‘You were my sun, you were my earth.’”
